Fight against what Bob Marley represents

Dominican authorities seize Bob Marley T-shirts

Dominican Republic drug enforcement agents Wednesday seized dozens of T-shirts with the image of reggae legend Bob Marley.

The agents also seized other items seen as promoting marijuana use.

Wednesday's operation included raids of three stores owned by Ecuadorian businessmen in the colonial district of the Dominican capital.

The authorities closed down the establishments, as well as four others in different parts of the city.

The owners are Thursday being questioned at the prosecutor's office of the National District, which includes Santo Domingo.

The T-shirts feature the image of the late reggae icon smoking marijuana and surrounded by several marijuana leaves.

Other items seized by the agents include caps, bracelets, necklaces, body piercing paraphernalia and rings with images of ganja.

The raids came a day after President Leonel Fernandez warned that authorities will be redoubling their efforts in the battle against drug trafficking.
